Founded in 1903, Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity is an organization dedicated to encouraging, nurturing, and supporting the art of music. Sigma Alpha Iota's collegiate membership includes women and non-binary individuals who exemplify personal and professional leadership through their commitment to musicianship.

Cullowhee, North Carolina is home to Western Carolina University & the Eta Theta chapter of SAI, chartered on May 6th, 1984. Throughout its 40 year sisterhood, Eta Theta has worked to support a thriving community, both in the School of Music and throughout the wider campus.
A Letter From Our Chapter President
Hello, and welcome to the official website of the Eta Theta Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota at Western Carolina University! My name is Julie Rivera, and I am honored to serve as the current President for the Fall 2025–Spring 2026 term. At Eta Theta, we celebrate music in all its forms. Our members come from a variety of musical backgrounds, including vocal, instrumental, dance, and theater, as well as non-music majors who share a deep love and appreciation for music. Together, we aim to foster a community that supports not only musical growth but also personal and academic development. Our goal is to use music as a way to uplift others and inspire connection, whether that be through performing, volunteering, or hosting sisterhood events. Sigma Alpha Iota has given each of us a lifelong network of Sisters who share a common love for music and for each other, and we are always excited to welcome new faces who wish to be part of our sisterhood.
